"Game of Thrones" star Jack Gleeson talks wedding shocker

[Spoiler warning: Don't read any further unless you've seen Sunday's episode of "Game of Thrones."]

Chances are if you're a "Game of Thrones" fan, you're still talking about this week's episode -- particularly, the moment King Joffrey was killed at his own wedding celebration.

And now the actor who played the malicious monarch has opened up about filming that pivotal scene.

Jack Gleeson, 21, told Entertainment Weekly it was "tough" going through the motions of being poisoned to death.

"I suppose it's one of those things that you have no prior experience in. I've never seen anyone die. It's hard to imagine what it would be like," he said. "But [director Alex Graves] very kindly walked me through it. It was fun in the end, but kind of stressful to be so focused, but acting like you're completely unfocused. Difficult, but exciting."

Gleeson also told EW he knew about his character's fate from the start. "I knew from Day 1," he revealed. "When I got the part, I read the first book. And before that, I Googled the character summaries."

When asked how he thought fans would react, he replied, "I think it will be 50-50. There will be a delight that the person tormenting their favorite characters is gone, but I would like to think there's a certain sadness at the loss of the delight people take in hating a character like Joffrey."

"Game of Thrones" will pick up with the aftermath of Joffrey's murder -- which his uncle, Tyrion Lannister, is accused of committing -- when the HBO drama returns with a new episode on Sunday.

Head over to Entertainment Weekly for the rest of Gleeson's interview.
