Cops: Three dead, one child injured in Houston shooting

HOUSTON -- A shooting during a Fourth of July celebration left at least three men dead and a 10-year-old boy wounded, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

The shooting occurred late Monday night, not far from Eleanor Tinsley Park where the Freedom Over Texas celebration was being held, according to the station. Officials say a total of five people were shot.

Police believe three to four suspects opened fire, aiming at a particular person, according to CBS affiliate KHOU. The other four victims were apparently shot by accident, the department says.

Witness video shows kids lighting firecrackers in a can in the roadway before a car horn honks and gunfire is heard, according to the station.

Relatives reportedly identified one of the dead victims as 28-year-old Charles Jackson, a father of three girls.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to call Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
