Four charged in deadly Kansas gun shop robbery attempt

SHAWNEE, Kan. - Four suspects in a deadly robbery attempt at a Kansas gun shop have been charged with first-degree murder, according to court records.

Johnson County District Court records show that Nicquan K. Midgyett, 19; Hakeem W. Malik, 18; Londro E. Patterson, 19; and De'Anthony A. Wiley, 19, are charged with first-degree murder. All four young men, who are from Missouri, were being held Sunday in lieu of $500,000 bonds, the Kansas City Star and WDAF-TV reported Sunday.

Court records did not list defense attorneys.

Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe declined to comment to the Star about the charges.

Shawnee, Kansas, police said Friday that store owner John Bieker, 44, died after the shooting at She's a Pistol, which caters to female gun owners. Police said gunfire erupted after four men tried to rob Bieker and his wife, Rebecca Bieker.

Shawnee police said that three of the suspects were also wounded. Two suspects were taken from the store and two fled but were taken into custody a short time later, police said.

Rebecca Bieker wasn't shot but sustained minor injuries. She was released Saturday from an Overland Park, Kansas, medical center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
