Former Alaska cop found his family dead in alleged murder-suicide

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Last week, Fairbanks Police responded to a Hampton Inn room and found four dead in what is described as a murder-suicide, reports CBS affiliate KXDD-CD.

When they arrived on the scene they also found a family member of the victims outside the room crying. On Thursday, police identified that man as former Fairbanks Police Officer Al Hutton, the father of the man believed to have perpetrated the crime.

Police say McKay Hutton, 22, shot and killed his mother, Linda Hutton, as well as his 22-year-old wife Emily McDonald, and their 8-week-old daughter, Teagan Hutton. McKay then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide, according to police.

Linda Hutton was reportedly Al Huttons’ wife.

According to Fairbanks police, Al Hutton has been cooperative with detectives during the ongoing investigation. Al Hutton reportedly told authorities that the family was moving out of state, which is why they were in the hotel.

Detectives are still investigating the case to determine a motive.
