Fla. teen who was reported missing found safe

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Florida teen who was reported missing Aug. 15 has been found safe, reports CBS Miami.

Volunteers and officials had been searching for 14-year-old Shaina McBride, who vanished Friday morning from the boat where she lived in Ft. Lauderdale with her father, apparently leaving most of her personal belongings - including her shoes - behind.

Her father, David McBride, feared the worst, telling the station, "She didn't take clothes or a toothbrush which says this child did not positively, did not decide when she walked off that boat that she was going anywhere."

Detectives have since learned that Shaina was a voluntary runaway, reports the station.

According to Ft. Lauderdale police, Shaina was found in a local hotel, reports the station.
