Fla. sisters, 11 and 15, accused of murdering teen brother

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - Two Florida sisters, ages 15 and 11, have been charged with premeditated murder for allegedly shooting their 16-year-old brother while he slept, reports CBS affiliate WJAX.

According to WJAX, the 15-year-old told police that her brother had beaten her and locked her in her bedroom. She reportedly said her 11-year-old sister unlocked the door and the 15-year-old found the gun in her parents' bedroom and shot her brother. The girls then reportedly left the home, leaving their 3-year-old sister behind.

48 Hours Crimesider is not naming or picturing the suspects because of their young age. Both girls have been charged with premeditated murder.

According to a police report obtained by WJAX, the sisters walked 3.6 miles from their home to the Dollar General store in White Springs following the shooting Monday night.

From there, the 11-year-old reportedly called a friend's mother and told her that she had run away. When that mother arrived to help, she called police.

WJAX reports that, in the police report, officers describe the 15-year-old as being emotionless and applying make-up, claiming their parents kicked them out. Later the report said she confessed to the murder.

Police say the childrens' parents left the home Monday, and that the wife traveled with her husband as he made rounds as a truck driver. Both were arrested and charged with child neglect. They are being held on $20,000 bond.

The sisters are scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
