Child porn search becomes animal cruelty case

LAKE WORTH, Fla.-- Police serving a search warrant in a child pornography case Wednesday found about 50 dead cats and dozens more alive inside a Florida home, reports CBS affiliate WPEC.

A computer from the home was seized and Douglas Westcott, 55, was arrested on three charges of possession of child pornography. But officers also launched an animal cruelty investigation after finding the cats stuffed into four freezers. And Animal Care and Control was called to handle the approximately 30 living cats found on the premises.

Animal Care & Control spokesman Dave Walesky told WPEC that many of the living cats were in bad physical condition and some may need to be euthanized.

They were housed in cages inside the home, Walesky said.
