Fla. man out on bond for deadly crash disappears with family

NEW PORT RICHEY Fla. - A Florida man facing charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide has disappeared with his wife and two young children, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.

Garrett Bruce was reportedly out on bond and was being supervised via ankle bracelet, which he has since removed. Police say he drove under the influence and crashed into a light pole in 2011, killing one of his passengers, according to the station.

Deputies with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office say Garrett, his wife Jennifer and their two children were last seen Jan. 10. They say Jennifer Bruce removed the couple’s children from their elementary school that day.

After being reported missing, investigators who responded to the family’s home in New Port Richey discovered the family was nowhere to be found. The family’s only vehicle was still parked at the home.

Deputies say an initial inspection of the family’s home turned up no signs of foul play or evidence that the family had gathered their belongings for a planned relocation, reports the station.

Jennifer Bruce's father says he received a call from his daughter on Saturday to say she and her kids were fine. However, he says his daughter refused to tell him where she was, according to the station.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the Bruce family is asked to contact law enforcement.
