Florida deputy shoots, kills alleged sword-wielding man

Bradenton, Fla. -- A sword-wielding suspect was shot and killed Thursday by a Manatee County, Fla. sheriff's deputy, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, deputies were called out to a convenience store in Bradenton, Fla., where a woman said she was the victim in a domestic violence incident involving her 31-year-old son, Terry Sellars Jr.

She told deputies she was held against her will and battered by Sellars. She eventually managed to escape and drove to the convenience store.

Investigators went to the victim's home to arrest Sellars, who allegedly came out of the residence waving a samurai sword.

He then allegedly charged toward one of the deputies. That deputy opened fire, striking and killing Sellars.

The deputy was not injured. An investigation of the shooting is under way.
