Fla. authorities have recovered body of an infant believed to be Chance Walsh

NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Sarasota County authorities believe they have found the body of missing infant, Chance Walsh, reports CBS affiliate WPEC.

The Sheriff's office received a tip Wednesday evening that the missing 9-week-old baby was buried 13 miles from his parent's home in North Port, Florida. The dense, wooded area is secluded, and has no houses nearby, investigators said.

During a press conference Thursday, the Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight held back tears, saying "our hopes was to find him alive."

Chance was reported missing by his grandparents on October 4. Investigators from Florida up to Georgia worked tirelessly on trying to locate the infant after the parents, 36-year-old Joseph Walsh and 32-year-old Kristen Bury gave detectives conflicting stories.

They both remain jailed on child neglect charges. The body must still be positively identified by the Medical Examiner and the cause of death is still under investigation. A memorial will be held Saturday.
