Fla. boy, 13, charged as adult in homeless man's killing

LEE COUNTY, Fla - A 13-year-old Florida boy accused of killing a homeless man is being charged as an adult with first-degree murder, reports CBS affiliate WINK.

A grand jury indicted Yoel Munoz Wednesday in the stabbing death of 51-year-old Thomas Bergstrom, who died earlier this month following an attack in Cape Coral.

Authorities say Munoz stabbed Bergstrom several times before running back to his home, covered in heavy amounts of blood, reports the station. Police reportedly say they found a knife and bloody mask belonging to Munoz at the scene.

The 13-year-old faces up to life in prison. Due to his age, he is not eligible for the death penalty, reports the station.

Munoz was moved from a juvenile detention facility into the Lee County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
