Man in kayak has scary encounter with shark

SANTA BARBARA --A man in California had a close encounter with a shark this week when he came face-to-face with it while he was fishing from a kayak, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Connor Lyon was fishing with friends in calm waters about 25 miles west of Santa Barbara when the shark, possibly a great white, tossed his kayak sideways.

"I had a clear picture of the eye, which was like, something like, that big around, something like that," Lyon said, forming his thumbs and index fingers into a circle. "And then its big wide open mouth. And the top of it was like a real dark color, almost like a deep, deep gray, or like black."

Lyon was safely pulled from his overturned kayak onto a squid boat. But the marks the shark left behind on his kayak are still visible.

Despite the scary moment, he tells CBS LA it won't keep him from the water. He says he plans to get back in the water soon.
