Fiery wreck kills 5, including 2 kids, on Long Island

BABYLON, N.Y. - Authorities say a car veered off a New York highway, struck a tree and burst into flames, killing five people, including two children.

State police said early Sunday that a Honda Accord driven by 37-year-old Brooklyn resident Myriam Labrun was traveling westbound on the Southern State Parkway in Long Island when it left the highway just before 11 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle struck a tree before bursting into flames.

Officials say three adults, including Labrun, and two children in the vehicle died in the crash.

State police say it's not clear what caused the car to leave the highway. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
