Report: Feticide charge in Ga. crash that killed unborn baby

SMYRNA, Ga. - A Georgia man allegedly caused a January car wreck that killed his wife's unborn baby and the couple tried to cover up what really happened, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The man, Laquadre Walker, now faces charges of feticide.

An arrest warrant obtained by the paper says Walker was driving on the wrong side of the road Jan. 6 around 5 p.m. when he struck an oncoming car, leaving the driver of that car with broken bones and Walker's pregnant wife, Amanda Walker, who was a passenger in his car, injured.

Amanda Walker was reportedly transported to a hospital and the unborn child didn't survive.

The paper reports that during a police interview at the hospital, Laquadre Walker told officers his wife was driving at the time of the crash. The couple later recounted the same story to their insurance company, according to the paper. But, according to a warrant, police say evidence "appears to show [Amanda Walker] was not in fact the driver of the vehicle and her husband... was the driver of the vehicle," reports the paper.

But according to the paper, Laquadre Walker should not have been driving. His license was reportedly suspended at the time of the crash.

Arrest warrants were issued for Amanda and Laquadre Walker on April 11 and they were taken into custody April 13, the paper reports.

Amanda Walker is reportedly charged with insurance claims fraud and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer. She was released on $5,000 bond.

Laquadre Walker faces multiple charges, including first-degree feticide by vehicle and insurance claims fraud. He is being held without bond.
