FBI offers assistance in Florida ZombiCon shootings

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation has offered to help Fort Myers police solve a shooting at a zombie-themed street festival that killed one and injured five others.

FBI special agent Dave Couvertier said that the Fort Myers Police Department is taking the lead on the investigation but that the bureau will "support them with investigative resources as deemed appropriate."

Police are searching for a man who they believe fired a semi-automatic handgun late Saturday night during the annual ZombiCon event in downtown Fort Myers. One of the victims, 20-year-old Expavious Tyrell Taylor, died at the scene.

Police have asked those attending the event to submit any photos or videos they captured during the party.

No arrests have been made and police have not released a motive in Saturday's shooting, which sent throngs of people pouring through the streets.

Police also released a video from someone who was at the festival. In the footage, hundreds of people in costume could be seen milling around, some having their photos taken with a person dressed in a large skull head and holding a scepter. Four loud pops can be heard in the video, and then people started to run.

Authorities said the shooter is a white or possibly Hispanic man in his late teens or early twenties. He was dressed in a black T-shirt and wore a flat-billed black and red ball cap. He was spotted firing a black semi-automatic handgun.
