Family, friends search for answers in Louisiana teen's death

KENNER, La. --Investigators are trying to determine how a teen's body ended up in a Louisiana ditch, reports CBS affiliate WWL.

Jorion White, 16, was reported missing on Friday night after she didn't come home from school, according to the station. Two days later, the high school junior's body was found in a drainage ditch, seven miles away from Kenner, a suburb just west of New Orleans.

St. Charles Parish Maj. Rodney Madere says a passenger in a car spotted the body.

"We are working closely with Kenner [police] to figure out what happened and we are working with the family. We are asking for the public's help," Madere told WWL.

Sheriff's deputies suspect foul play in her death, according to The Associated Press. The corner says that his office has not yet determined the cause of death, and routine toxicology test results are pending.

An autopsy was also performed, according to the station, but results have not yet been released.

Investigators say they're hoping questions will be answered soon as they review her final days.

Authorities said they have talked to some persons-of-interest, but have no suspects yet in the case, according to WWL.

Anyone with information about the teen's death should contact Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111.
