Family: Boy, mother killed in Baltimore shooting

BALTIMORE - Police say they found a woman and a boy around 8 years old shot to death Thursday in southwest Baltimore.

According to CBS Baltimore, officers were called to the 100 block of Upmanor Road about a shooting around 8:19 a.m. Homicide detectives are investigating.

They say the victims were both shot in the head, becoming the city's 37th and 38th homicide victims this month. Family members confirmed the victims are 31-year-old Jennifer Brown and her son, Tony, reports the station.

With three days left in May, Baltimore is already suffering its deadliest month in 15 years.

The city has suffered a surge in gun violence and a sharp drop in arrests since the death of Freddie Gray from injuries he suffered in police custody unleashed protests and prompted closer scrutiny of police practices.
