Emotional Adele posts video telling fans why she's canceling Arizona concert

Adele cancels show in Phoenix

PHOENIX -- If a picture is worth a thousand words, what about a video posted by Adele on Twitter?

The British singer songwriter posted a Twitter video telling her 27 millions fans why she was canceling a Phoenix, Arizona concert hours before showtime on Wednesday.

“I’m really, really sorry. I’ve had a cold for a couple of days. And I’ve been pushing through it. And I did my show last night and I loved it, but I pushed too hard, and my cold has gotten the better of me,” Adele said.

“I’ve pushed through a lot of things. But I’ve been trying to sing all morning, and warming up, and nothing’s really happening,” she added. “I’m so sorry to let you down... It’s the last thing I want to do, but I have to look after myself because I’ve got so many more shows to do.”

Adele’s tweet -- like most of her tweets, including this one about a particularly great burrito experience and this one explaining what went wrong at the Grammys -- spread like wildfire.

“I just found out that Adele cancelled her show that I had tickets to. Now it’s time to rid Phoenix of it’s entire supply of tequila,” @CarolinaFlojita tweeted.

“@Adele just broke up with Arizona over text. #Heartbroken,” @beedaves tweeted.

“Well looks like I’m going to be saying hello from the parking lot because Adele canceled her show tonight in Phoenix :-),” @kidrauhl_ishero tweeted.

But perhaps the most disappointed fans are at to the Arizona Department of Transportation, which apparently enjoys Adele more than one might expect based off its highway signage on Tuesday:

Adele is scheduled to perform at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Saturday.
