Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are "taking a break"

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have decided to hit pause on their three-year relationship.

The actors, who starred together in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its sequel, are on a break, according to multiple reports.

A source told People that distance was a factor. Garfield, 31, is filming Martin Scorsese's "Silence" in Taiwan, while Stone, 26, is reportedly spending time in Los Angeles after wrapping production on her new film, "Aloha," also starring Bradley Cooper. Earlier this year, she also completed a run playing Sally Bowles on Broadway in the revival of "Cabaret."

"He's thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else," the source said of Garfield's work on the film. "But it's too early to say the relationship is over."

Another source confirmed the split is a "temporary" one. "They are just separated for work," that insider said. "Andrew is overseas. They are both busy with their careers and have not seen each other."

The pair have not been photographed together since January. Rumors of a breakup ignited after Stone attended numerous awards shows earlier this year without Garfield -- including the Oscars, where she was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in "Birdman."
