Ellen DeGeneres hits back against "gay agenda" accusations

Ellen DeGeneres has fired back at her haters with a dose of her trademark humor.

On Wednesday, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" host used her monologue to address a column published by the Christian Post that criticized Hollywood for pushing a gay agenda. In the article, "Are You Aware of the Avalanche of Gay Programming Assaulting Your Home?" pastor and author Larry Tomczak wrote that DeGeneres "celebrates her lesbianism and 'marriage' in between appearances of guests like Taylor Swift to attract young girls."

"First of all, let's just break this down, I'm not 'married,' I'm married. That's all," said DeGeneres, who wed actress Portia de Rossi in 2008.

"And Larry, I don't even know what it means to celebrate my lesbianism. I mean, I guess I do - it's like that," she continued, pulling a party popper from her blazer and setting it off. "I'm gay!"

On a more serious note, DeGeneres told her audience, "The only way I'm trying to influence people is to be more kind and compassionate with one another. That is the message I'm sending out. I don't have an agenda. I'm not here to brainwash anyone. But..."

Her stage manager then handed her a spinning vortex, which she held up to the camera. "Listen to the sound of my voice. Attention youth of the world: I want you to live your lives being exactly who you are," DeGeneres said. "Be true to yourself -- the most important thing is to be true to yourself. The second most important thing is that you wear Ellen underwear and only Ellen underwear."
