Duchess Kate pulls out of Malta trip due to morning sickness

The Duchess of Cambridge will no longer visit Malta this weekend, Kensington Palace announced Thursday.

Kate, 32, continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the palace says. The decision not to travel was made on the advice of her doctors.

The Malta trip was to be the Duchess' first solo overseas trip. Her husband, Prince William, will now go in her place.

William, 32, is said to be "honored" to be representing Queen Elizabeth II on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta's independence.

The royal couple announced last week that they are expecting their second child, and that Kate was experiencing the same acute morning experience she had while pregnant with Prince George.
