Apparently drunk man rescued atop Sydney Opera House

Drunk man rescued after climbing Sydney Opera House

SYDNEY - Police in Australia rescued a man who was apparently drunk astride the Sydney Opera House over the weekend.

Two rescuers had to climb to the top of the buildings iconic sail-like structures and wrap the man in a harness to bring him down.

The Sydney Daily Telegraph reports officers spent about an hour talking the man off the roof, while tourists were banned from going beneath the attraction.

"A drunken guy just decided to go up the sails," an officer told the Telegraph.

One tourist told the Sydney Morning Herald the man was walking around on the structure, "smoking a cigarette and drinking from a can," according to Sky News.
