Dr. Luke demands to see Kesha's medical records as legal battle continues

As the legal battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke continues, her former producer has filed papers demanding she submit her medical records. The music producer claims that in doing so, he can prove her allegations of sexual assault and battery are false.

Dr. Luke's attorneys said in a letter filed in New York City that they are requesting a court order to supersede doctor-patient confidentiality and compel Kesha's doctors to submit her medical records.

"[Luke] should be permitted discovery regarding [Kesha]'s abuse allegations, including her specific contentions that such abuse caused her to seek medical treatment and enter rehab," the letter stated.

The letter cites Kesha's claims that "the continuous and ongoing years of sexual, physical, verbal, and emotional abuse and harassment at the hands of Dr. Luke" "took their toll" on her and that she was "forced to seek emergency medical help."

Dr. Luke's attorneys argued in the letter that Kesha "has unambiguously waived any physician-patient or therapist-patient privileges she may have had through her affirmative actions and allegations."

Kesha first filed suit against Dr. Luke in 2014 and is seeking to invalidate her contracts with him, his label and Sony Music. In February, a judge denied Kesha's request to be released from her contract with Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records. Dr. Luke, meanwhile, has maintained that he never raped Kesha.
