Pilot proposes to girlfriend on Melbourne-LA flight

Pilot gives a personal flight surprise

For all those people who have the habit of ignoring in-flight announcements, this one will make you listen.

Qantas Airlines pilot Dooley Ellis started his in-flight announcement from Melbourne, Australia to Los Angeles the normal way, according to the video released by Qantas. But then he announced they had a “very special passenger on board,” his girlfriend, Ana, who was head to Colombia to see family.

“I wanted everyone not only on board the aircraft, but spanning the world to know how I feel about Ana,” Ellis said. He then asked her in Spanish if she would marry him. He came out of the cockpit with a ring and flowers, to the delight of clapping passengers.

The couple met in Spain in 2012 on a Camino de Santiago pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.
