Donald Trump's transition team unveils official website, Twitter account

Donald Trump’s transition team unveiled an official website and -- naturally -- a Twitter account on Wednesday.

www.GreatAgain.gov gives short bios of the president elect and his vice president, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, along with brief descriptions of the next administration’s policy positions.

The site says it’s meant to provide “public information about the Presidential transition and offers opportunities to participate in this important public endeavor.”

Trump’s biography, however, has a couple unusual points, including noting that Trump is “a proud grandfather of seven.” Trump actually has seven grandchildren: Donald Trump Jr.’s five kids, and Ivanka’s three.

It also notes that Trump is the owner of several international real estate properties: “Mr. Trump owns properties around the globe in locations such as Brazil, Canada, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Panama, Scotland, Ireland, and others.”

As CBS News investigative producer Laura Strickler points out, Brazil, Canada, Turkey and Panama are all branded properties that Trump has argued in court he does not own -- he just licenses his name and thereby reduces liability.

The Azerbaijan property is neither branded or owned, as it has not been opened yet – Alan Garten, Trump’s attorney told the Associated Press in June that the project was on hold.

The transition team’s Twitter account, @transition2017, currently has just two messages -- one introducing the website and another soliciting ideas on how “to make America great”:

The transition team, headed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, gave Trump his first internal briefing at Trump Tower on Wednesday.

As CBS News’ Major Garrett reported, the transition will be carried out both in New York’s Trump Tower and in a Washington, D.C.-based office established for the team.
