Cops: Wife shot dead by estranged husband while picking up kids

McKINNEY, Texas – Police say a woman was shot to death by her estranged husband Thursday in the parking lot of a North Texas day care center before the shooter turned the gun on himself, reports CBS Dallas/Fort Worth.

McKinney officers said no children were harmed in the shootings, which took place late in the afternoon. They believe the woman was picking up the couple’s children.

The woman was shot to death while in her car and the man’s body was found a few miles away from the day care facility, said Officer Sabrina Boston. Police confirm that he died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple’s names have not been released, nor have there been any further details regarding the children. The couple was going through a divorce, according to CBS Dallas/Fort Worth.
