Divers search for infant after father leaps from bridge

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Middletown Police are searching for a missing infant after, they say, his father jumped from the Arrigoni Bridge.

Police say Tony Moreno jumped from the bridge after police received a call that he was there, possibly with his infant son, Aaden, reports CBS Hartford, Connecticut affiliate WFSB-TV.

According to police, the call came in around 11:45 Sunday night. Police said officers were told the elder Moreno might have a baby with him on the bridge. Officers observed Moreno jump into the Connecticut River, but did not see the child with him.

Search teams and divers from Middletown, Portland and the state police are involved in the operation, and crews are still looking for evidence in the river.

The man was transported to Hartford Hospital in serious condition.
