Denver cops stop man for jaywalking, arrest him for rape

DENVER - A jaywalking stop may have been the key to solving an old rape case, reports CBS Denver.

The station reports that Gregory Carter, 46, was suspected in the 2012 rape of a woman in a Denver alley, and that DNA evidence linked him to the attack -- but authorities had been unable to find him.

That is, until last week, when the station says police confronted Carter about jaywalking.

After officers stopped him, Carter was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the 2012 case.

He is due in court on Thursday.
