Delaware school where girl died after beating mourns another teen

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A 15-year-old Howard High School of Technology student has died after being shot in Wilmington, the second student to die in recent weeks.

Wilmington police said in a news release that officers found the boy lying on the ground Thursday afternoon, a few blocks away from the school, with a gunshot wound to his head. He later died from his injuries.

Howard High School Principal Stanley Spoor posted a note on the school's website confirming the shooting death of a freshman student. He says counselors will be available at the school Friday.

"All of the Howard community is pained by the loss of this young man and we all grieve his death," Spoor wrote.

The victim's identity has not been released.

The boy is the second Howard High School student to die in recent weeks. Authorities say a fight in a school restroom left 16-year-old Amy Joyner-Francis dead last month. Three girls were charged in connection with her death.
