Telfair County District Attorney Tim Vaughn told local media on Monday that he filed notice of intent to seek the death penalty against Ronnie Adrian Towns in the deaths of 69-year-old Elrey "Bud" Runion and his 66-year-old wife, June Runion.

The Marietta couple went missing in January after driving to the rural town of McRae to purchase a 1966 Ford Mustang advertised on Craigslist.

After a search, investigators found their bodies. Both had been shot in the head.

Towns is charged with malice murder and armed robbery.
