D.A.: NFL's Peterson admits smoking pot while out on bond

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - A Texas district attorney has filed a motion asking that NFL star Adrian Peterson's bond be revoked in his child abuse case after he allegedly admitted to smoking "a little weed."

The motion filed Thursday by Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon asks that a warrant be issued for the Minnesota Vikings player's arrest.

Peterson is currently out on a $15,000 bond since being indicted last month on a felony child abuse charge. He has said he never intended to harm his 4-year-old son by spanking him with a wooden switch earlier this year. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Peterson appeared in court on Wednesday where a tentative trial date in the case was set for Dec. 1.

According to the motion filed by the district attorney, Peterson also submitted to a urinalysis exam Wednesday and admitted to an employee conducting the exam that he had "smoked a little weed."

As a condition of his bond, Peterson is prevented from smoking marijuana.

A judge will rule on the motion and determine whether a warrant should be issued for the NFL player's arrest.
