Crowdfunding campaign started for Pa. fugitive lookalike

James Tully's coincidental and unfortunate likeliness for suspected cop killer Eric Frein has gotten him detained by police more than 20 times.

It also doesn't help that he walks to work through the same wooded area as authorities are searching for one of the nation's most wanted fugitives. But there are those who want to save him from harassment on the five-mile trek he takes to work, which he walks because he does not own a car.

Good Samaritans have raised almost $22,000 in a Gofundme.com campaign to help him purchase a car.

The 39-year-old father of two, who has a bad knee and sometimes uses a brace, has held down a job at J.A. Reinhardt, a Mountainhome, Pa., metal manufacturing company, for a year and he says he's been stopped and questioned as many as seven times on his round-trip walk, according to the Pocono Record.

The campaign was launched on Oct. 21 and more than 900 people have given to the webpage, which Tully did not start.

"I never asked for this to be done," he told Reuters. "It's just the community showing its support on its own."

He said that he would use the money to purchase a vehicle and leftover funds would go toward fuel and maintenance.

Frein has been on the run from authorities since a trooper was fatally ambushed Sept. 12 outside his Pocono Mountains barracks. Another officer was injured.
