Cory Booker under increased security after death threat, Newark mayor says

NEWARK, N.J. -- U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is under increased security after someone threatened to kill him and his family, CBS New York reports. Mayor Ras Baraka said local police were guarding his Newark home Saturday as a precaution.

According to the Baraka, U.S. Capitol Police notified the Newark Police Division about the threat, CBS Philadelphia reports

Federal agents were also helping provide the additional protection.

The exact nature of the threat has not been made public.
