Cops: Woman fatally shot by husband at Miss. WIC office

PASCAGOULA, Miss. --Police say a woman is dead after she was shot by her husband at a coastal Mississippi WIC food distribution center, reports CBS affiliate WLOX.

The woman's husband was taken to the hospital in critical condition, reports the Sun Herald.

Police are describing the shooting just before 8 a.m. Monday in Pascagoula as a "domestic dispute," reports the paper. Investigators are still trying to determined the events leading up to the incident.

"There was a confrontation," Lt. Doug Adams of the Pascagoula police told the paper. "We are still investigating. We have yet to determine the chain of events."

The woman was an employee at the WIC office, reports WLOX, a federally-funded food nutrition warehouse.

No one else was in the building at the time of the shooting, the station reports. It's not clear how the husband was injured.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
