Cops: Tenn. college student kills fiancée, stages suicide

JACKSON, Tenn. - Police in Jackson, Tenn. believe a Union University student killed his fiancée and then tried to make her death look like a suicide.

WNWS-FM reports Charles Pittman, a 21-year-old senior majoring in Christian ministries, is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Pittman's fiancée is Olivia Greenlee, a 21-year-old senior majoring in music education, was found dead of a gunshot wound in her car on campus early Wednesday morning.

Police believe that Pittman shot Greenlee on Tuesday night and then staged the scene to look like a suicide.

The school's president, David S. Dockery, said in an online message that the "incredibly devastating" tragedy involved two commuter students.

Its website says Union University is affiliated with Southern Baptist life, and has about 4,200 students.
