Cops: Son kills father, calls 911 to confess

MONTGOMERY, Minn. - A Minnesota 18-year-old allegedly called police and confessed to shooting his father in the head late Monday, reports CBS Minnesota.

According to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Richard Joseph Nelson had already died from a gunshot wound to the head when officers arrived at the house where the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Monday.

There was no one else home at the time of the shooting. Police say that the son, Jonas David Nelson, has no history of criminal behavior and that this is the first time officers were called to the house.

Nelson was taken into custody.

Investigators are working to determine possible motives for the deadly shooting.
