Cops: Sex predator in Texas using cash to lure kids

FORT WORTH, Texas - Authorities in Fort Worth are searching for a man allegedly trying to lure minors into his vehicle by flashing cash, reports CBS DFW.

Police say the suspected sexual predator has been cruising the streets for weeks in a silver BMW and targeting young boys.

According to the station, the suspect first struck on January 9 when he approached a 17-year-old boy who was walking home from school.

"The individual driving the car offered him $100 for a sexual favor," said Fort Worth Detective Chris Daniels. The teen reportedly refused and got away.

Three days later, an 11-year-old boy reportedly fell victim to the same scheme when the suspect approached him.

The man was most recently seen loitering near the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, less than a mile away from where the assault on the 11-year-old happened.

On Wednesday night, police continued their hunt for the suspect. They said they are concerned a particular group of children is being targeted and that there may be victims that haven't come forward.

Police say the predator is targeting poor, minority youngsters. They also believe the suspect, who is described as a light-skinned black man in his 30s, with a goatee, is seeking out children who are also black.

Police were putting together a composite sketch of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the suspect or recent attacks is asked to contact the Fort Worth Crimes Against Children Unit at 817-348-1155.
