Cops: N.C. teacher sent obscene videos, pictures to students

SHELBY, N.C. - An ex-middle school teacher in western North Carolina has been arrested for allegedly sending obscene videos and pictures of herself to students, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.

Caron Elizabeth Blanton, 34, of Mooresboro, N.C., was jailed Tuesday and charged with six counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor and three counts of indecent liberties with a child under age 16, according to the station.

The suspect worked as a sixth-grade science teacher at Burns Middle School in Lawndale until her resignation late last week following a male student's report to police that he had an inappropriate video from the educator.

According to detectives, two boys at Burns Middle School received videos and pictures of Blanton. Sheriff Alan Norman says there are no signs that the teacher had a sexual relationship with either student, WRAL reports.

It is not clear if Blanton has an attorney.
