Cops: Man took woman's body to hospital, said he killed her

SEATTLE -- Police charged a man with second-degree murder after he drove his girlfriend's body to a Lakewood, Wash., psychiatric hospital and allegedly told staff he'd killed her, and that he needed help.

Attila Richards drove the dead body of Biftu Dadi to Western State Hospital on Sunday. Court documents say Richards, 29, admitted to stabbing her many times, but said he did so in self-defense, because Dadi, 24, was kicking, hitting and threatening to shoot him.

Richards said he had known Dadi for a week and that they had a romantic relationship. Police say he told them he had taken drugs the evening before she died.

Richards was charged Wednesday. His bail has been set at $2 million.
