Cops: Man pushed Phila. transit rider onto tracks; yelled "Kill, kill, kill"

PHILADELPHIA --Police say a woman was thrown from a platform onto SEPTA train tracks in Philadelphia Sunday by man who yelled "Kill, kill, kill."

CBS Philadelphia reports the 27-year-old transit rider was waiting for a SEPTA El train at 40th Street Station when a suspect police identify as Kenneth Grimes shoved her onto the tracks in an apparently random, unprovoked attack. The woman reportedly broke her shoulder in the fall, and landed just feet away from the third rail which carries potentially deadly electrical currents.

When she looked up at her attacker, police say Grimes was brandishing a knife and yelling, "Kill, kill, kill."

The woman was able to scramble back onto the platform before the train arrived in the station, CBS Philadelphia reports.

Police say Grimes boarded the train and exited two stations later at Amtrak's 30th Street Station, where he was arrested after scuffling with officers and allegedly spitting on them. Police say video surveillance helped them track him down.

Grimes is reportedly being held on $250,000 bail on aggravated assault and numerous other charges.
