Cops: Loaded gun, ammo found at Miami International Airport

MIAMI, Fla. - A loaded shotgun was found Monday inside one of the bathrooms at Miami International Airport, reports CBS Miami.

The weapon was described as a pistol grip shotgun containing five rounds. In addition two boxes of ammo were also recovered.

Miami-Dade Police, ATF, and Homeland Security were involved in the investigation, reports the station.

A source said the gun was wrapped in a towel and found in a garbage can in a men's bathroom before the security checkpoint, according to CBS Miami.

It was discovered by an airport employee who was cleaning the bathroom.

A senior law enforcement source described the discovery as "scary."

Investigators are reviewing video from the airport to determine where it came from and who it may belong to.
