Cops: Fla. man calls 911 twice because he couldn't lock door

BRADENTON, Fla. - A Florida man called 911 twice because he couldn't lock his door, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The Bradenton Herald reports that deputies responded to the 911 call and arrived at the home of 55-year-old Mark Sharon.

Deputies reportedly informed Sharon that he would be arrested if he used the 911 system for non-emergency reasons. According to the arrest report, Sharon was described as uncooperative. Deputies went on to say that Sharon was heavily intoxicated.

According to the Herald, within the hour, Sharon called 911 again and told the dispatcher: "Thank you very much, they sent them here pounding on my door."

Deputies had arrived at Sharon's house again -- and again found that there was no emergency. According to the police report, Sharon tried to run as deputies attempted to arrest him.

Sharon was eventually caught, handcuffed, and transported to the Manatee County Jail. He was charged with resisting arrest without violence and misuse of the 911 system.

He was released on $1,000 bond.
