Cops: Calif. couple stashed $2.3M in heroin in diaper box

MODESTO, Calif. - Police in California's Central Valley say a couple was arrested after it was determined they were driving with their 10-month-old baby and a diaper box filled with 26 pounds of heroin, reports CBS Sacramento.

Now those are some dirty diapers.

Israel Alcazar, 34, and his wife Isabel Soto-Mondragon, 20, were arrested just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning after a K-9 alerted officers in Modesto to the scent of drugs in their car during a traffic stop, according to the station.

Agents reportedly estimated the 26 pounds of pure, uncut heroin found in the diaper box has a street value over more than $2.3 million.

A search warrant served at the couple's home also turned up a gun, along with what investigators are calling other evidence of drug sales and $1,200 cash, reports the station.

Child protective services took the 10-month-old child into protective custody.
