Cops: Burglar gets stuck in pizza oven pipe, yells for help

BRANDON TOWNSHIP -- Authorities say that a Michigan man's plan to break into a pizza shop was ultimately foiled when he got himself stuck in a pipe, reports CBS Detroit.

The Oakland County Sheriff's department reportedly received a call Sunday about a person screaming for help near the Cracker Barrel Pizza Store in Brandon Township. Deputies arrived to find a 32-year-old man trapped in a vent pipe for a pizza oven, police told the station.

The man reportedly removed the vent cap on the roof and climbed down into the pipe -- getting stuck halfway between the roof and the floor, officials told the station. He remained in a tight spot until his rescuers showed up -- about 11 hours later.

The man was arrested at the scene and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and dehydration, according to CBS Detroit. The alleged crook's name wasn't released.

Sheriff's officials did tell the station that the suspect was on parole at the time of the attempted break-in. He reportedly served time on a 2005 home invasion conviction, as well as in 2012, when he was convicted on breaking and entering and drug charges.
