Cops: Bike tracks in snow lead to Michigan robber

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The snow is apparently good for something.

Authorities say it helped them stop a teenage robbery suspect in his tracks, reports CBS Detroit.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old implied he had a gun while robbing a delivery worker last week at an A&W restaurant in Frenchtown Township.

The suspect allegedly ran from the scene before jumping on a bike and riding to a nearby apartment complex. But deputies noticed bike tracks in the snow and traced them to the complex.

Local residents then identified the boy, police said.

The teen, whose name has not been released, was arrested Wednesday morning on other, not yet specified, criminal charges. He was being held Thursday in the Monroe County Youth Center, awaiting formal armed robbery charges.
