SAUGET, Ill. -- Police have made an arrest in a shooting at a southwestern Illinois gas station convenience store allegedly perpetrated over spilled beer, reports CBS affiliate KMOV.

Lamarc Robert Garrett, 29, is reportedly charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 26-year-old Oscar C. Casiano Saturday in Sauget, in the greater St. Louis area.

Sauget Police Chief Patrick Delaney says the gunman approached a group of friends buying beer and demanded one. He says the men refused and the 12-pack slipped from the buyer's hands, sending out a spray of beer.

Delaney says the suspect grabbed a .45-caliber handgun from his car and returned to shoot one of the men, later identified as Casiano.

Police tell KMOV investigators identified Garrett as the suspect after his image was captured on security cameras. He was reportedly seen leaving the scene in a dark blue Ford Fusion.

Garrett is being held on a $1 million bond in Missouri and is awaiting extradition.
