Connie Britton: Expect a twist at season's end of "Nashville"

Connie Britton on "Nashville," "Friday Night Lights"

Last week, the gang from "Nashville" poured their hearts into a major live performance shot at the Ryman Auditorium, and this week fans can expect more drama and sizzling hot romance as the series winds down season 2.

Britton, who couldn't attend the live performance taping because of pneumonia, told CBS News there's a lot of action leading up to the finale next month.

"From here until to the end -- every episode is amazing," she said, adding, "Heading to the finale, every episode is packed. The second to last episode we shot at Ft. Campbell army base...Rayna puts on a big concert for the troops. That was an incredible, incredible experience. I think the audience is going to really love that. And that's the episode that Michelle Obama is in, which is extremely exciting."

Britton, 47, also gave us a sneak peek of what to expect on the May 14 finale: "The final episode is blowing out everything. We do a huge performance at LP Field in Nashville and everybody's going to be doing great numbers...There's a lot of stories that get tied up, but everything has a little twist...For my character -- for Rayna -- she's finally releasing her album and it was fun for me to shoot that because it was really a great moment of victory for Rayna...There was a twist in that one that even surprised me when I read it, I have to say."

The series hasn't received a season 3 order yet from ABC, but that could change when the networks' upfronts kick off in May. "We don't know yet," she said about whether the series will get renewed. "I feel confident about it. I feel pretty good. Fingers crossed."

Britton will next be seen on the big screen in the film "This is Where I Leave You," alongside Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver and Jane Fonda.

And she recently became a new face of POND'S. "It's a very classic and iconic brand," said Britton, who noted how she uses the towelettes and cold cream cleanser often."And there's a level of authenticity and trustworthiness to it that I appreciate."

When asked for one beauty tip, Britton said she's big on wearing SPF. "I'm now fully on the hunt for really great products with SPF in them, particularly tinted moisturizers, but also for my lips," she said.
