Clinton Foundation discloses speaking fees the Clintons collected

The Clinton Foundation on Thursday released previously undisclosed information about speeches delivered by Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, generating as much as $26 million in revenue for the foundation.

The new disclosure covers nearly 100 speeches dating back to 2002, including 72 delivered by former President Clinton, 16 by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and nine by Chelsea Clinton. Some of the organizations that paid for their speeches include universities like Colgate University, corporations like Citibank and foreign entities like Thailand's Ministry of Energy.

What do independent voters think about foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation?

The foundation has publicly disclosed its donors since 2008. However, the money collected from these speeches was reported as revenue rather than donations, since the host organization was paying for a specific service and could not receive a charitable tax deduction for the payment.

The Clinton Foundation has come under intense scrutiny in recent months for the donations it's received from foreign governments and other entities who may be aiming to win favor with the Clintons. In response to the questions about its donors, the organization has reformed its disclosure policies.

"Like other global charities, the Clinton Foundation receives support from individuals and organizations across all sectors of society, backgrounds and ideologies because they know our programs are improving the lives of millions of people around the world," Clinton Foundation spokesman Craig Minassian said in a statement. "In addition to the more than 300,000 donors who are all listed on our website, posting these speeches is just another example of how our disclosure policies go above and beyond what's required of charities."
