See how top designers reimagined Cinderella's glass slipper

Cinderella's slipper. If that's not the most famous shoe in all of pop culture, it's pretty high up there.

Now, with the new live-action "Cinderella" film coming out next month, Disney and Saks Fifth Avenue have tapped nine top designers to create their own visions for the heel left behind by the story's heroine when the clock strikes midnight.

Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, Rene Caovilla, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome C. Rousseau, and Stuart Weitzman are all taking part in the project, the companies announced this week.

"Cinderella's glass slipper has become a magical symbol of transformation," said Jonathan Symington, Vice President and General Manager, Licensing, Disney Entertainment at Disney Consumer Products. "Each pair of shoes in this exciting global collection captures Cinderella's elegance and grace through the lens of celebrated designers, making this shoe collection truly fit for a princess."

Swarovski, which produced Cinderella's glass slipper for the film, is providing the crystals featured in the designers' shoes.

Disney's "Cinderella," directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James, Cate Blanchett and Richard Madden, opens in theaters March 15. Earlier that month, Saks will decorate the windows at its New York City and Beverly Hills locations with costumes and props from the film.

The entire "Cinderella"-inspired shoe collection will be on display at both locations, and select styles will be available to purchase -- no fairy godmother required.
