Christine Cavanaugh, voice of "Babe," Chuckie on "Rugrats," dies at 51

Christine Cavanaugh, the woman who lent her voice to the titular pig in "Babe," Chuckie Finster from Nickelodeon's "Rugrats" and other memorable characters from the '90s and early 2000, has died. She was 51.

Cavanaugh died on Dec. 22, according to an obituary published in the Los Angeles Times. A cause of death was not revealed.


In addition to her roles in "Babe" and "Rugrats," Cavanaugh also was the voice of Dexter from "Dexter's Laboratory" and Oblina from "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters." She first gained prominence as the voice of Gosalyn Waddlemeyer-Mallard on "Darkwing Duck."

According to the obituary, Cavanaugh retired from voice acting in 2001 to move closer to her family. She had no children of her own, but was godmother to the daughter of a childhood friend.

"She was able to do incredible and amazing things with her voice and bring lots of smiles and many laughs to many people who are now young adults," the obituary said.

It continued, "Accolades, notoriety, and recognition were not the reason for her interest in entertainment, it was for the love of entertainment, to make people smile."
